Jets In-House Awards Results -- Revis Wins MVP
Earlier today, the results from the Jets annual in-house awards ceremony were announced.
The vote was conducted on December 23, and each player and staff member received a vote.
The results are as follows:
Curtis Martin MVP Award -- CB Darrelle Revis
Dennis Byrd Most Inspiration Player -- RB Thomas Jones
Kyle Clifton Good Guy Award -- LS James Dearth
Ed Block Courage Award -- LB David Harris
Revis is the first CB to win this award since 1961 and the first defensive player since Jonathon Vilma in 2005. He had some words on the accomplishment:
"Oh, man. It just shows how much they think of me," Revis said when asked about the honor bestowed on him by his teammates. "But I couldn't do it without them. I couldn't do it without them blitzing, without my coaches drawing up the schemes so as to put us in the best position to make plays. So I just thank everybody and I appreciate it and we've still got a lot of football to play."

Who else?
For MVP besides Revis? Jones obviously should get a strong look also…. and if it were possible, maybe we could give it to the entire OL as a unit.
Not as good as when Ihedigbo won the “King Ugly” award for ugliest player back in August….. but almost as prestigious of an honor.

It really speaks volumes for Revis that on a team with the number one defence, the number one rushing offence, he is head and shoulders above the rest. A great achievement, and like one Jet said (I really can’t remember who, was years ago), their is no greater honour than being recognised by the people who see what you do on a day to day basis. Something like that anyway

Curtis Martin
The inspirational player award was rightly named for Byrd, but in his absence could’ve been named for Curtis M. When you hear about injured players having nothing to play for, Curtis Martin never let up. And when he retired, he went back to his hood to try to make a positive impact. He turned his rough upbringing into a positive without so much as a whimper. In an age of egos (Minnesota’s #4?) his positive attitude stands out today.
BTW, let this take nothing away from Wayne Chrebet, who was cut from the same cloth as well.
Happy Holidays, all!

I start by stating I’m a PATS fan, but….. No one deserves the MVP of 2009 like Revis. Best player of 2009 and unlike the “mvp canidates” the Jets would not have made the playoffs with out Revis. Revis for MVP!
