Week 15 Rooting Guide
The Jets currently sit at 7-6 in a four-way tie for the sixth and final playoff spot, but because of tiebreakers they are behind all of the 7-6 teams. Now if the Jets want to make the playoffs they need to win out, but also need some help. With that in mind here is this week’s rooting guide:
Indianapolis over Jacksonville- The Colts appear to be playing their starters tonight and that’s a good thing as the Jets need the Jaguars to lose. In a perfect world the Colts would rest their starters at some point during the game and still win indicating that they will rest them next week against the Jets.
Tennessee over Miami- The Jets need the Dolphins to lose as they don’t have the tiebreaker over them. Fortunately, the Titans are still alive in the playoff hunt and will give it their all to keep their slim hopes alive.
Buffalo over New England- If Buffalo could spring the upset it would be huge for the Jets. Remember the Bills should have beaten the Patriots in week one and playing in Buffalo in December is never easy.
Chicago over Baltimore- With the way the Bears have been playing recently this doesn’t seem likely, but the Bears do have talent to do so and considering the way the Steelers have played recently this may be the best shot the Ravens have at losing.
Oakland over Denver- The Raiders have been the king of the upset this year taking down the Bengals, Eagles, and Steelers. While that gives them some hope, all of the upsets came at home and this week they’re playing in Denver with Charlie Frye at the helm.
Cincinnati over San Diego- This is the most interesting game of the weekend. If the Bengals win then they will hold the tiebreaker over the Chargers. Then a win next week and a Chargers loss will clinch the second seed for the Bengals and then they might rest their starters in week 17 against the Jets. The other scenario is that the Bengals collapse, lose their next two games and stumble into a week 17 game against a red hot Jets team. The first scenario is more likely to happen, so I’ll be rooting for the Bengals.
Houston over St. Louis- This isn’t as important as the other games, but the Texans do play the Dolphins and Patriots in the last two weeks and a win this week will keep them hanging around as they play to save their coach’s job.
Pittsburgh over Green Bay- Similar to the Texans, the Steelers play the Dolphins and Ravens the last two weeks of the season and if they lose this week they may decide to shut down some of their starters for the season.

jaguars over colts
1. if the jaguars win tonight it will guarentee that manning and others are on the bench next week against the jets
2. jaguars play the patriots in an upcoming week and if they lose tonight they won’t be fighting as hard; a patriots win in that game would give the jags the loss they need and a patriots loss would help the jets win the division

Jags have a 1 game lead and hold the tie-breaker.
We need the Jags to lose twice. A loss tonite would be great.

WHY?
Would the Texans and Steelers shut down their starters even if eliminated? They wouldn’t have both of those teams lose so we can just eliminate them from the wc chase.

Yes, the Steelers are a proud team. The last time they were the defending champs, they had a similarly disappointing year, went to Cincy, and knocked out the Bengals the last week of the season even though they had nothing to play for, and the Bengals were win and in.

But lets not forget that Big Ben has had a concussion earlier this year...
Why risk another if the playoffs are out of the question?

Indi beats Jacksonville.
Cross off Jacksonville on the list. Hopefully, they rest at 14-0.

Why does everyone want them to rest? I say bring them on what better way to show everyone we deserve to be in the playoffs then to beat the Manning led Colts. We can do it!

If you watched that defensive performance last night then let them start their guys, Thomas Jones would have a field day. Reggie Wayne is not getting the same separation against Revis. Sure it would be a challenge, but if you want to be the best you have to beat the best.

this Jets team is not good enough to win the Superbowl. I want them to get in the playoffs so they can taste it and get prepared for the future. If that means beating backups so be it. The real benefit will be the week after if they play playoff teams just as determined, but more mature, than them.

Bengals win???
Just so they rest their starters? What a loser attitude. If the Bengals lose this week to SD and next week, the Ravens become irrelevant. Sure KC beating Cincy is not likely, but it’s not impossible, but as you say, the Ravens playing at home vs the Bears may be the best shot at them losing so any extra chance for the Jets to get in is helpful.

and
you did mention the Bengals could lose two and stumble into the Jet game, meaning you thought the only advantage would be that they’d be cold.
That means you didn’t even realize the Bengals losing their next two games means the Ravens can win out and take the division, while we beat the Bengals for the WC. You wrote this whole article and did not even figure out every permutation for yourself, or you just looked at someone else’s incomplete work, or you just aren’t very good at this.

Oakland
Just wanted to point out that Oakland beat the Steelers at Heinz field, so you never know which Raider team is going to show up.
