Another Head Rolls: DL Coach Locklin Gone
So Carroll and his personality were first on the chopping block after another Jets loss at home, however it was soon followed by another, this time in the form of Kerry Locklin the defensive line coach. Rex Ryan did not mention this during his press conference, but Cimini reports that there was a disagreement between the two and it was mutually agreed (Which is really code for, Rex said you can either go and save image or be fired) that he should leave the team for 'personal reasons'.
Defensive line coach Kerry Locklin has left the team for personal reasons, according to a person familiar with the team. It was a mutual decision between Locklin and Rex Ryan, the person said, but this sounds a bit fishy. Ryan made no mention of Locklin's departure during his late-afternoon news conference.
It's believed that Ryan had a disagreement with Locklin, but the specifics aren't clear. No word yet on who will replace Locklin. He and Ryan have known each other for nearly 20 years. They coached together at Morehead State from 1990-1993.

I hope you’re all preparing for this Pats game. They’re known for making a statement after a togh loss and your right there for the picking.
Good luck, I’d rather see you win but I think your in store for a rough Sunday.
By the way…get used to third place ladies.

Hey we have the talent to beat the Pats
just got to put it together.
See that wildcat is back on the Ginn and juice...
Pats are over-rated and we’re due to get the bounce in our direction. We’ll run and blitz and stick Revis on Moss just like last time. That 4th down call will be the defining moment of the Patsies season.
The Phins should focus on staying out of last with Brown getting bit by the ankle monster.
Jets beat the Pats and win the division. Mark it down.
Im worried about Welker in this one, he didnt play in the first meeting
Curtis "my favorite" Martin - 1 of the best!
unlikely he’ll surpass Edelman’s performance from the first game – 8 for 98

If that Jets beat the Pats
then I’ll have to quickly look outside the window and see if there are pigs flying around… I kind of wish Jim Mora was our coach right now just to see him do the “playoffs!?” comment again lol
DL Coach Locklin Gone
That’s the headline.
That’s the story.
A fan from another team comes to the board and we’re not talking about the story anymore.
Anyway, as far as the Jets are concerned, this does sound a bit fishy.
Rex himself has been a DL coach in the past, so he should know what it takes to coach the position.
I think this had to do more with Tannenbaum and management.
It’s very interesting how Rex Ryan didn’t even mention it.
He also declined to get into specifics about the Ahmad Carroll situation, who obviously has nothing to do with the DL.
And he declined to say who should have been where at the end of that Jags game (Kerry Rhodes).

Go, Pac, Go!!! Manny Pacquiao!!!
Looks like Jeff Weeks will be taking over the defensive line, but I’m sure Rex will take on some of the role. I’m thinking that the lack of pressure from the ends might of been one of the sticking points.
Did you guys hear about Rex Ryan breaking down in tears during his morning meeting, think it was more stress relief and obviously nobody believes more than him that we can win this season.

The Jets yesterday parted ways with defensive line coach Kerry Locklin, citing “personal reasons” and said it was a “mutual decision” between the team and Locklin.
Defensive assistants Jeff Weeks and pass rushing instructor Chuck Smith will take over Locklin’s duties, according to head coach Rex Ryan, who coached with Locklin when the two were at Morehead State from 1990-93.
“It was a mutual decision that Kerry is no longer going to be with us,” Ryan said. “This is a real sensitive issue and unfortunate timing. It was in both our best interests that we mutually agreed upon this.”
Asked if there were philosophical issues, Ryan said: “It’s never just one thing. There were some disagreements. There are some personal issues that are behind us.”
Ryan wouldn’t say this, but it’s believed that the Jets’ in-game substitution issues that have cost the team some crucial timeouts were a problem contributed to by Locklin.
The Jets were forced to burn a timeout early in the third quarter of Sunday’s 24-22 loss to the Jaguars when there was confusion about whether Jamaal Westerman or Mike DeVito was supposed to be in the game and the Jets had too many men on the field.

If this is the case then that's fair enough
Let’s hope that we can get these fundamental things down. Sure it was hard for Rex to have to part ways with someone he has known for around 20 years but you have to do what’s best for the team.

But the story runs deeper.
from Rich Cimini:
According to team sources, Locklin was the line coach in name only. In reality, assistants Jeff Weeks (Ryan’s old college roommate) and retired Falcon pass rusher turned instructor Chuck Smith had been sharing the job “for a while,” said one source, who described Locklin as a “token” coach.
Sources said there was a serious falling-out between Locklin and Ryan. There’s always a lot of he said/he said in situations like this, so it’s hard to separate fact from fiction, but one source said Locklin was “bad-mouthing” Ryan behind his back. Ryan apparently got wind of it.
This was Locklin’s first pro job, and he apparently brought more of a college coaching mentality to the position. That rubbed some players the wrong way. There also was confusion on the sideline between the linemen. On Sunday, Ryan had to burn a third-quarter timeout because there were too many players on the field. He was livid.
