Jim Leonhard To Have Surgery Today
Bob Glauber of Newsday has confirmed that Jim Leonhard will today undergo surgery on his thumb and it is unknown how long he is out for. Although Rex would not rule him out for Sunday's trip to New England he did not sound very confident.
Jets safety Jim Leonhard to undergo surgery for fractured thumb. Rex Ryan says he doesn't know if Leonhard out for Patriots game.
So 24 hours after many (myself included) questioned Kerry Rhodes, we now face the prospect of a Kerry Rhodes/Eric Smith safety combination against Randy Moss/Wes Welker and Tom Brady. It certainly doesn't fill you with confidence. Especially considering that Leonhard might of had one of his best games as a Jet yesterday.

Leonhard seems like a tough guy, so let’s hope he can play with the thumb protected this Sunday, but thinking that it should be one week at most.

Didn’t a bunch of Rookie DBs in Indy just beat the Pats?

I'm terrified of Welker
in this matchup if Lowery and Shepherd couldn’t cover Holt how will they cover Welker? We need a complete game from everyone and if we win were back into the discussion. I shouldn’t get my hopes up.

Run and blitz...
And run some more. Thats the key to victory. We need a couple of breaks though. Gotta create some turnovers.

anyone else wondering
if rhodes would go back to being a playmaker if he were calling the plays for the secondary?

Didn't he call plays last year?
Wasn’t much of a play maker last year.

Elam and Rhodes were both above aolid last year
Of course when you’re losing your safeties makes tons of tackles, especially when your corners are the likes of Lowery and Coleman.
I agree with JetsFan, until this year Rhodes was pretty clutch. Maybe not a playmaker but better than most Strong Safeties out there. You better come up with a great player before you cast him aside.
