Is There Any Hope?

Let's be honest. The Jets head into a must win game next week against the Patriots in bad shape, really bad shape. They are reeling right now. Their confidence must be low. Heading into the first meeting, there seemed like a perfect storm favoring this team. They were brimming with confidence after dominating Houston. The Pats looked ordinary against the Bills, and Tom Brady didn't look fully comfortable on his gimpy knee.

The tables are clearly turned right now. The Jets have to bring their rookie quarterback to Foxborough against a Pats team and crowd that will be breathing fire seeking revenge for the first meeting and a crushing loss to the Colts last night.

Should we tune in Sunday?

Hopefully we aren’t facing a pissed off Patriots team.

btw a season in which we sweep the Patriots is a victory to me!

No chance the Pats lose two in a row.

2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25

I think the Jets win

but it doesn’t salvage the season – they’ve pretty much won every game they were the underdog and lost every game they were the favorite.

but let’s be honest here, they can afford at most one loss the rest of the way. i think they win this week and get us excited again, but there is about a 1% chance they get to 10 wins.

Does It Really Even Matter Anymore?

Even if they beat the Pats, will they be able to beat the Bucs or the Bills? The defense really needs some teaching. Great defenses dont keep missing tackles.

The Jets can do it

Hey I hade very little confidence about a jags win yesterday. All week long I prepared myself for an (ugly) loss. And we know what happened yesterday. HEy I thought about the Colts game; that it is over and the Pats won it; and the Colts could turn it around.
PLUS: The Patrios have lots of injured players yesterday; that is also a chance. Yesterday in the second half we saw how good the Jets can play; how good corner Revis (he just took out Mike Sims Walker in the 2nd round-when Ryan decided to cover him.) I think he can do it with Moss. I think if the Jets will play wih so much fire like the Jags did on the first half and the last drive; they can do a major upset in the Gilette Stadium

Yes we can win it

because we are not supposed to win it. For the first time yesterday I saw one of the players lay it on the line in the post game press conferences. Edwards didn’t give the same old, we will do it next week etc, he basically said that the players need to look in the mirror, and realise that they are not just going to be handed the win, they have to work for it. However I say we beat the Patriots/Colts and then lose to the Bucs/Bills, because we are the Jets, and that’s what we do.

We can beat the Pats...

We did it b4 we can do it again. Thats whats great about interconference rivalries, anybody can, the records don’t matter.

Gotta get after it though. Pats are comin off an embarassing loss and want revenge. If we can run the football we can win.

Its better for the my Fins if the jets win

If we win on Thursday, we’ll be 5-5 and a game behind the Pats, but if the Jets win the Dolphins are still in second place assuming we win on Thursday, its win-win for us but it would help us if you guys pull off the upset.

Pretty bold assumption

considering you almost got clipped by the Bucs at home.

Hopefully Henne could throw a nice juicy one at the end of the game again and Carolina could keep it’s good run. Then Buffalo could win next weekend and the fins could be in last place.

Yeah I like that scenario much, much better.

He comes here and says that he is rooting for the Bucs

and you still are being a dick? No wonder your team is going down the tubes this season…again.

so I am in control of the Jets destiny?

I never knew I wielded so much power. “I am everything, I know everything” (quote from Highlander)

Now going with the genitalia theme you started, you tebow-licker are a pussy. One little comment and you get your panties all bunched up? Did I insult his mom, country, religion? No, I dared take a mild shot at the almighty dolphins. Guess what your season is in the crapper too. I would love to take credit for that.

I wouldn't bet on it but...

I think the Jets can win. They’re a hell of a team right now when all three units (offense, defense, special teams) show up. Some games everything just clicks. Some games Sanchez is king, some games he’s clearly a rookie. The defense has been a little lackluster pretty much since the first meeting with the Dolphins. Special teams in the second Dolphins game was… yeah, let’s not even talk about that.

If they beat the Patriots and lose the rest of their games, I’ll be plenty happy though. I’m only recently back into paying attention to Pro football (I was mainly a college junkie before, but the piss poor postseason of college and blatant favoritism got to me) and in dealing with Patriots fans as a Jets fan well… let’s just say, I’d be happy if the Jets only won two games every season.

“However I say we beat the Patriots/Colts and then lose to the Bucs/Bills, because we are the Jets, and that’s what we do.”

Hahaha. So true… so true. Just look at the Titans last year.

I’m hoping they finish at or about .500 for wins and two of those are the Pats. Beating them at home isn’t easy, especially with Sanchez still dealing with the cold. But hey… I think the Pats are going to be playing for blood this game (see the Titans game) which either means it’s gonna be ugly or they’re going to be victims of their own hubris.

Stick a fork in her baby.

Maybe we can get a healthy squad next year.

Healthy team with a few key additions and we are ready

This team is close, just not quite there yet, but I’m confident that we can get there next year

I hate to be that guy

but I’m feeling great about next year. I don’t even feel there’s any glaring weakness or sore spot. I think if we can keep injuries to a minimum this is a super bowl ready team.

by Bro Namath on Nov 17, 2009 3:56 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yeah but...

It seems like it is always “wait till next year” So damn hard being a Jet fan. But hopefully you are right. Maybe Sanchez matures nicely in his second year, same for Ryan. Maybe Edwards doesn’t blow up on us. Maybe next year is finally the year the Pats run finishes.

It does boil down to how we finish up this year. We may just be in the “character” part of our season already.
