Checking in for a while

Just read some rumours linking my Cubs and your Yankees John with Curtis Granderson, what are your thoughts there?

I wouldn’t want to give up a top prospect for him, which is probably what it would take. I like him, but he was brutal against lefties last year.

A pure salary dump I would do, but I don’t see that happening. His contract’s very affordable. I’d imagine there would be some sort of bidding war.

Yer

Angels are also interested, and would think they have the players expendable for a trade. I can’t imagine who they would want from us. Josh Vitters is untouchable.

I would rather the Yankees get Chone

He can move around to a lot of places, he wont cost no prospects, and he is younger than Damon.

The only thing I want from this off-season

Is for Milton Bradley to be shipped out somewhere, anywhere. Guy is trash, single handedly ruined the team this year. Well he had a little help from Jim Hendry who destroyed a team with the most wins in the NL, all to get left handed. That really worked Jim, congrats.

I remember saying Bradley was a bad contract. That man is the posterchild of people who should only get one year deals.

Yep, knew it was a terrible deal

He meted down in San Diego, how the hell was he going to cope in Chicago, a baseball town, with the Cubs fans about as impatient as they come. Was never going to work. Trading for Kevin Gregg and not offering Wood, and trading Mark DeRosa to get Aaron Miles (switch hitter). It was one of the worst off-seasons in Cubs history.

Getting rid of DeRosa was dumb, not bringing back Wood was smart

What the heck were the Mets thinking with the Perez and Castillo deals? Hendry wanted to get left handed, Minaya wanted to get even more Latino.

by YankeesJets on Nov 15, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

My question is how does Minaya still have a job.

I ask myself that question every day

The only convincing reason i’ve found is that Omar is easily convinced by small sample sizes and tends to blind himself to the inconsistencies. With Ollie, Omar was in love with his performance against the Phillies, so much so that he felt he could just ignore Ollie’s incredible wildness and walk rate. As for Castillo…. well, I can only assume he felt that Castillo was still in his 2003 form…

Not that I want to defend Omar in anyway, I think he should be tosssed out on his ass

I don't think getting rid of Wood was smart

Wood said he would of taken a smaller deal and even another one year one to remain with the Cubs. Instead we paid Gregg $4.2 million to suck, blow saves and ultimately get shifted from the role.

I don't think it was smart to get rid of Wood

He said that he would of taken another one year deal to stay in Chicago but yet we let him walk, and then traded a promising prospect in Jose Ceda to the Marlins for Gregg, his $4.2 million contract, and just so we could watch him blow saves and ultimately get shifted from the role and demoted.

Wood was awful for the Tribe last year

Gregg was okay early on. Marmol shouldve just been given the closers job. Minaya has a job because he somehow got the Mets to give him a 4 year extension after the 08 season, so they wont eat that much money. I will give him props for stealing Johan. The Twins got nothing on that deal.

It will get everyone’s hopes up that we are back on track, only for it to be dashed. Losing from here on out isn’t the way we do it. We have to instil some hope if we want to dash it.

Of Course, The Jets Are Going To Win

They only lose the games they take lightly. While they’re at SNY for all their guest spots(which need to come to an end) they watch all the shows, and buy the hype. When it is put out there, that the Jets can easly win 3 of the next for games by someone like Adam Schein, the Jets believe its a gimme. Listening to Braylon after the game, my comments seem dead on. This team is a bunch of paper champs.

I’m not really sure it’s much of a debate at this point if you look at the way Manning’s carried that team the past two years with a suspect supporting cast. Also doing it while injured pretty badly for much of 2008.

Peter King’s book tells a pretty unbelievable story of what Manning was playing through last year.

Harrison’s argument is “Brady has three rings.”

Dungy responded, “So does Troy Aikman. Does that make his better than Brett Favre?”

by Jadden Hopkins on Nov 15, 2009 8:29 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I have to go with Harrison on this debate

Brady had no namers on the offense, Manning had stars on the offense. In a big game, I’m taking Brady every time. I still think Pennington got jobbed last year. He was the MVP, not Manning.

by YankeesJets on Nov 15, 2009 8:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I used to be a Brady guy back when Manning was combusting every January, but I’ve converted. Brady didn’t have much at skill positions early in his career, but he did have a great defense and the greatest coach of his generation. His team won 11 years last year with a dude who hadn’t started since high school.

Manning’s carried his team these past two years with no running game. The Colts wouldn’t win 6 games any year of his career with Jim Sorgi under center.

Lets not forget that BB is a defensive guy

Manning has had the same coaching staff his whole career, while Brady has been with a bunch of different offensive coordinators. Last years 11 win team had the same easy schedule the Jets couldnt take care of. They had both West divisions on the schedule, and they still had a great line and talent at the WR position. During Brady’s SB run, he had nobodys at WR and RB. Manning is to Brady, what Marino is to Montana. Well except Montana had Rice.

by YankeesJets on Nov 15, 2009 8:17 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Don’t agree. Manning’s won a Super Bowl and did it by overcoming an 18 point deficit on BB’s defense in the AFC Championship. He’s not Marino. He’s also a big winner.
