Braylon Edwards Will Play Against Miami
Braylon Edwards will make his Jets debut against the Dolphins on Monday.
Braylon Edwards will play in Monday night's game against the Dolphins. Tannenbaum compared it to the Ty Law situation last season, when they signed the graybeard cornerback the week of the Patriots game in Foxborough and he was in the game -- a lot, as it turned out.
The Jets need Edwards. With Chansi Stuckey heading to Cleveland to play for Eric Mangini (he probably feels like he's going to Siberia), the Jets are down to Jerricho Cotchery, Brad Smith and David Clowney at receiver.
I'm not sure how comparable the situations are. Ty Law had a firm grasp on Eric Mangini's defense. It's not clear how much of the offense Edwards knows. Cleveland offensive coordinator Brian Daboll did work under Brian Schottenheimer as quarterbacks coach for a few years so I'm sure there are similar elements. Still, Daboll cut his teeth in New England with Charlie Weis. Schottenheimer got his schooling in San Diego under Cam Cameron. I think we'll definitely see some of Edwards but not as much as we'll see once he gets more comfortable in the system. I think he'll be running a lot of simple vertical routes Monday.

How tough..
Aside from chemistry and I admit, chemistry is really important for OL players and QB/WRs, that WR might be the easiest position to transition. Cause no matter what you call the play in the huddle, the WR routes are fairly consistent across teams. Just call a play in the huddle, then turn to Edwards and say – post route or deep slant, or whatever, and he can figure it out from there. Blocking is, well, “go block a safety” or “go block a DB”.
Sure, I have no idea what I’m talking about, but this sounds pretty realistic from my days playing out in the school yard.

eh...
could be ugly. as Berrian and Favre have shown with the vikings, chemistry can be a weird thing. he’ll probably drop some passes because of that, but hopefully he doesn’t get crucified. Even if he doesn’t get the ball, he should draw attention at least, so that will help the other guys out there. looking forward to the game.
