Jets Acquire Braylon Edwards from Browns
It is being reported from multiple sources that the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets are completing a trade that will bring WR Braylon Edwards to NY for WR Chancy Stukey, LB Jason Trusnick and 2 Draft Picks.
Here is the report from ESPN --
The Cleveland Browns traded Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets on Wednesday morning, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
In Edwards, the Jets obtained a receiver that gives quarterback Mark Sanchez a legitimate deep threat -- and a player facing an NFL investigation for off-the-field trouble.
<!-- INLINE HEADSHOT (BEGIN) -->
The league is probing whether Edwards violated the league's conduct policy following accusations he assaulted a friend of NBA star LeBron James outside a Cleveland nightclub on Monday night.
Edwards has been involved in other off-field incidents, a factor commissioner Roger Goodell considers when handing out any discipline.
In March, Edwards was partying with suspended wide receiver Donte' Stallworth in Miami the night Stallworth later drove drunk and killed a pedestrian. Edwards was not with Stallworth at the time of the accident.
Last November, Edwards was fined $150 and given 30 hours of community service after he was found guilty of driving 120 mph.
Edwards, a fifth-year pro from Michigan, has caught 10 passes for 139 yards this season for the winless Browns. For his career he has 238 catches for 3,697 yards and 28 touchdowns, but faced criticism in Cleveland last season for the number of passes he dropped.

Braylon Edwards eh?
Stay out of trouble and catch the ball. Clowney was benched quick after his mild remarks, no messing around with this coaching staff. The rest of the guys will let him know the difference between Eric and Rex. I think we will see Braylon on his best behaviour…………….he’s got no choice.
JetsJetsJets!
damn!
i liked chansi stuckey!
oh well, maybe having an established WR like edwards will make the opponents respect the pass more.
but damn, i really liked chansi stuckey.
and the home of the... JETS!!!
.... THEY COULDN'T TRADE ANYONE ELSE??!!!!
Dang Chansi… I hope he comes back after his contract is up, or whatever. Thats a good player right there and no doubt in my mind Mangini knew that. I know Chansi is cursing up a storm right now because he has to go back to that dayum regime. DANG MAN! Oh well, Welcome to NY Braylon.. don’t act up. Even the club owners don’t play games in NY. And don’t drop the ball. Like I said, welcome to NY.
Quit complaining, Think of how us Browns fans feel about the trade.

I hear ya, but I think both teams did well here. Braylon was out at the end of the season (I suppose) so at least you got something for him.. While he might have been worth a 1st or 2nd rounder in the offseason, his off the field troubles seem to be killing his value.
Probably why the Jets are waiting till the dead of winter to offer him a new contract…

You Guys Are Kidding Right?
Braylon Edwards is a former first rounder who is a true #1 WR, Stucky hasn’t done much and obviously doesn’t have Sanchez’s confidence in him.
For real.
We just got a guy who two years ago went for 1300 yardsand 16 TD’s. He is on a horrible team with a horrible coach with no QB. I am so pumped about this.

And for Chansi Stuckey? Why are people so in love with guys like Stuckey, Clowney and Ratliff who never did a damn thing?
We trade Stuckey for Braylon Edwards and people are frigging complaining? Really?

i thought stuckey was performing
am i missing something, or was he not doing well as #2 WR
i do realize the advantage of edwards though, being already established, esp. with the great ’07 season.
so i think the trade makes sense on paper.
but i thought stuckey was doing well.
am i wrong?

During the preseason, many including me wanted to see Clowney in the #2 and Stuckey in the slot. I think Edwards and Cotchery is a 1000% improvement from Cotchery and Stuckey – not because Stuckey is a worse WR than Edwards, but because with Edwards on the field, he opens up Cotchery and the running game, and Stuckey would need a year of amazing games to get that kind of respect from opposing Ds.

got a discount
because of his possible suspension we got edwards at a discount. an amazing trade for a true #1 receiver.
