Mark Sanchez Donates Hot Dogs to Charity
After the controversy surrounding Mark Sanchez's hot dog eating Sunday, the rookie stepped up to the plate for a local charity.
Sanchez has bought 500 hot dogs and 500 hamburgers, along with buns and rolls, through A&P supermarket, and donated them to the Community Soup Kitchen of Morristown, N.J.
Sanchez was grilled Sunday after television cameras caught him trying to discreetly put mustard on a hot dog and eat it late in New York's 38-0 win at Oakland. He apologized after the game, saying he didn't feel well and needed to eat something. Sanchez added that "it won't happen again."
Nice touch and a good way to diffuse this story.

Nice touch but unnesasary
Never going to say giving to a charity is bad thing because obviously it’s not. However the whole hot dog thing was completely blown out of proportions. It was media created, media fuelled and completely ridiculous. Raiders fans I have talked to really don’t care, Jets fans see it as a none issue and the fact that he even had to douse the flames with an act like this is mystifying to me.

I didn't even hear of this incident.....
Who the hell cares if he is eating on the sideline?

Apparently some members of the media
No fans seem to really care.

It was weird.
I didn’t see his interview, but I talked to my Dad about the situation on the phone, asked him what he though, neither of us thought much of it. If he was eating a power bar or something nobody would have really cared. It just seems like a hot dog is not “game” food. I really don’t think this is a big deal at all. I heard Sanchez even mentioned something along those lines, something like maybe I should have eaten a power bar. But hey, stadium hot dogs are far more enjoyable then a power bar!

This was a controversy?
And plus they were playing the Raiders. Two years ago Farve played the game against them without a helmet on.

I'm a Dolphin fan.
For that, I’m glad to see him being criticized by the media, hopefully it will help us out this weekend.
But why the hell was this a “controversy?” The media will pick up on anything and run with it. I would have eaten it if I were him. On NFL Network, they were talking about it and I can’t remember who it was, but one of the NFLN guys who used to be a player said something along the lines of “we used to eat on the sidelines all the time. We would get one of the team helpers to run to the snack stand and get us stuff.”
