Braylon Edwards Charged With Assault
Braylon Edwards has been charged with misdemeanor assault due to an altercation with a friend of LeBron James that led to his ouster in Cleveland.
It carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. An arraignment was scheduled for Nov. 17 in Cleveland Municipal Court.
Patrick D'Angelo, an attorney for Edwards, said his client will plead not guilty.
The Jets did indeed know of this possibility before the trade. The potential for this was part of the reason Edwards came so cheaply. Keep an eye on this because the league may sit Braylon if this doesn't turn out well.
Are you concerned the Jets will lose Edwards for any period of time?

They’ll stall this till after the season, then he’ll plea bargain out. I don’t know if he’s been suspended by the NFL before, but at worst it’ll be one game. No Drugs, No Weapons, so its not that bad.

This was bound to happen
It may take a while for him to get punished, but Jets players are being picked off like flies.

it all depends on what he did exactly
Assault is very vague: for example, I can throw a cup of water in someone’s face and they can claim assault.
Its battery if I caually throw a punch.

Edwards is accused of punching promoter Edward Givens, a friend of NBA star LeBron James, following an argument Oct. 5 on the sidewalk outside View Ultralounge & Nightclub on Prospect Avenue. James called Edwards’ actions “childish” and presumed the NFL player was jealous of him and his friends. – Tim Graham
Long story short, don’t mess with LeBron or his entourage.

Jets' Braylon Edwards not getting suspension for assault charge
New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards may have assaulted a friend of LeBron James outside a Cleveland nightclub, but it doesn’t appear the league will give him any kind of suspension for it.
He was charged with the misdemeanor on Monday. The fact that he has no prior history is helping Edwards stay clear of any league suspension, a source told the New York Post.
