Rock Bottom
For the second straight week, the vaunted defense couldn't get a stop when it needed one against a 1 win divisional opponent. Last week was a road game against a talented opponent with a unique style. This was a home game against a team in disarray with a horrible backup quarterback.
And obviously the rookie quarterback looked like a rookie. Unfortunately we saw more Mark Sanchez growing pains. It helped cost the team a game. It happens to every team with a rookie quarterback.
I think it's pretty safe to say this is the low point of the young season.

Wow.
Just wow. I don’t even know what to say. Awful just doesn’t seem strong enough. This could be a tough one to recover from.

I'm not putting that down to being a rookie
you can get away with a lot as a rookie but 5 INT in a game, and let’s not forget that two interceptions were dropped, Sanchez could of had upwards of 7 INT in this game. Just bad football.

Not saying
that he is not going to be a good QB. I’m saying that rookie or not a performance like that is unacceptable. I have faith in Sanchez, but I don’t think you can give him a pass for that performance based on his rookie status.

I Still Wonder Why They Didnt Just Keep Pounding It
Sanchez didnt have it today but the running game was unstoppable, why go away from it? And why have Clowney on the team if you are not going to throw to him? Dont even get me started on Keller either, another Jets TE First Round Bust.

No idea what has happened
to Keller, he doesn’t even look interested this year, seems he has a strop on him because things are not going well. When I write up the thoughts later he is going to be one of the main issues. If he struggles catching the ball he can’t be in there because he can’t block

Its A Little Different
Sanchez has way less time in than they did. He only started 16 games in school. In fairness the quick start was bad for him because now everyone is thinking a guy with limited experience is gonna beat out Tom Brady and the Pats and go far in the playoffs.
by YankeesJets on Oct 18, 2009 8:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not too many got caught up
in it though. Nobody was calling him a all star or a pro bowler, we just thought we had a guy who every now and then could move the ball. The one thing that was said before the season was, he knew that it was his job not to turn the ball over. He doesn’t have to go out and win the games, that’s why this is far worse than a horrible game.

I just wonder if it was his reads or..
if Schotty was just calling plays to Edwards. I know he threw to Keller, which was a waste but he didnt throw to any other WRs. I wish we could sign some of those Bills DB’s to play WR. Sanchez would like Tom Brady if he was throwing to those guys.

By no means was I saying rookies don’t have bad games or the above two are exempt, but just because you are a rook doesn’t mean you are allowed throw 5 interceptions against a defense that isn’t exactly league leading caliber.

Another Loss In A Non 1PM Game
11-0 in 1 PM games, 1-10 in Non 1PM Games the last two seasons. To make it worse the Raiders had to finally find a heartbeat today too. I think this is gonna be a long season and the Jets are gonna wind up an 8-8 or 9-7 team. I still wonder how we beat Brady and Schaub, but lose to Henne and Fitzpatrick.

As a Dolphin Fan....
I’m obviously happy that you helped us a little in the AFC today…
however, as a realistic question I ask this:
What role, if any, do you think the weather played in Sanchez’s play? He’s a Warm Weather QB, and this is his first real Cold Weather game….and there wasn’t even snow.
Do you think you could be in for a rough winter stretch, hoping he adjusts?

I dont care if it's 90 degrees out there
If you key in on the same WR all game, and your “All Star” TE keeps dropping everything thrown his way, you are going to have the same result. If he is gonna be an NFL QB, he is going to have to play in the cold, so that excuse better get tossed quickly.

however if you look at the start of some of the best’s careers they were not pretty, just look at Peyton’s rookie season. Everything was bad today, play calling, execution, QB play, and everything really.

Sanchez Will Be Okay
I think winning the first three games might have hurt him a bit. Normally people dont look to a rookie QB to take them to the playoffs the first season, but with the three wins over quality opponents, Sanchez has to deal with win now pressure. And the Edwards move makes it look like the team is going all in this year, even though this kid isnt ready for that kind of pressure.
by YankeesJets on Oct 18, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Especially
when Schotty puts unneeded pressure on him. No need to throw so much in the 2nd half with the running game working. He is such a strange coordinator, when the pass is working, he elects to try and pound the ball and get the run game going. When the run game is working, he in insistent on throwing the football. Not getting a HC job with those kind of calls.

A part
but can’t be used as an excuse. His mistakes were in his reads, and although the weather will of played a part I don’t think we can pin it all on that. As a Bills fan I can sympathize..
Usually it is the Bills who figure out a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of certain victory. I think the Jets got too overconfident. One website had a Jet saying he felt sorry for the Bills, because the Jets needed someone to beat on after the Miami loss. He’s the guy the trainers on working on…extracting his foot from his mouth.

Thats not good. And I wouldnt anoint Henne just yet. The last two years the Jets have made very ordinary QBs look good. Guys like Fitzpatrick, Cassell, Russell, Hill, and Wallace. Henne looked good, but if you think he wont have bad games like Sanchez has, you are in denial.

sanchez doesnt scan the field
He locks on one receiver and that makes it easy for the db’s. That is mainly why he is being intercepted so often. I believe his accuracy makes it hard for all the receivers to catch the ball. Not too many on target, also a TE that gets a pass in the flat and is left out there to be slammed often will drop the ball, if not he loses 2 yards.
No suprises in the offense anymore. D’s know where we are going with the ball now. Our d looks good overall, not the rush but the rush defense. Pretty decent tackling also. IF that goes down we are buried.
