A Few Good Questions With.....TheSportsGuru, Broncos Blogger

Milehighreport_medium

Hello Jets fans, Guru here from Mile High Report welcoming you to Broncos/Jets week.

It seems the Jets and Brett Favre have finally figured each other out and Gang Green is really starting the role.  The Broncos felt the same way until an embarrassing loss to the Raiders last week.  Ugh.

Anyway, got a Broncos question?  Fire away!   I'll check back in regularly to get those questions answered!

Good luck and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

The Broncos are famous for their zone blocking schemes, which rely on the athelticism of the offensive linemen. How do you think they will handle the brute force of Kris Jenkins?

ANSWER

To be honest, the Broncos O-Line has handled everyone so far. The running game has been limited by the injuries and the pass-happy offense, but FO still rates the Broncos Offensive Line #1 in run-blocking and #4 in pass blocking. Ryan Clady is having a just as good, if not better year this year as a rookie LT as Joe Thomas last season. He has only been called for 2 5-yard penalties all season and has been charged with a 1/2 a sack.

On the interior, Casey Wiegmann has proved he can still play at a high level at Center, and Ben Hamilton is as good as it gets at Guard. The Broncos O-line doesn’t get much pub because they don’t say all that much, but none of the Broncos issues have had been due to the O-Line.

Dumervil

I read where he was talking about getting some sacks and even telling Favre to sign the ball if and when he gets a forced fumble. I recall talk like that last year when he faced Favre (when he got none).

Does he talk like that every week? Also, if I’m not mistaken, he isn’t an every down DE now, but a pass rushing specialist. Am I correct and has it benefitted him.

ANSWER

Actually, no, Elvis does very little talking. It was a surprise to me to hear him say much at all, and I’m sure any comment was in jest, though this time of year it doesn’t take much to create any sort of motivation.

The Broncos rotate their entire defensive line, but Dumervil does get most of the snaps ot DE, so he would be considered much more than a situational player, though rushing the passer is his specialty, and the Broncos try and keep him fresh due to his lack of size.
