New York Jets at New England Patriots Game Thread

New York Jets at New England Patriots, Nov 13, 2008 8:15 PM EST

There is a good chance we will look back on tonight as the night the East was either won or lost in 2008. Leave any in game thoughts in the comments section.

Note: For fans in the New York area without the NFL Network, this game will also be on CW 11.

I am available to share in savoring the jets beat the crap out of the patriots. Who would have guessed we’d be saying that now, at this time last year? :)

I wouldn't miss it for the world

What a game. Favre has been awesome, the defense has made some big stops, and Leon continues to be Superman!

There's actually a discussing rolling over at Pats Pulpit

The lead pats blogger MaPatsFan is “good people” and the room contains Pats fans, Colts fans, and more, so you might try stopping by there. As long as it’s good natured, they’ll welcome your comments.

Congratulations to the New York Jets and their fans

That’s one hell of a win! I despise the Patriots and that smug s.o.b. of a coach, Bill Bel-li-cheat!

Way to go J-E-T-S!

Hey lou!

Any ideas about how to get the word out for live comments here during the Jets Games? GangGreenNation is relatively new and doesn’t yet have the “live” following that makes this great fun.

sorry for the delay.

…Let me make sure I understand you. You just want to get more contributions from the fans while the game is in play? Is that right?

Yup, like what is frequently seen at PatPulpit, Stampede Blue, and the like.

It’s not a gripe by any means, just an inquiry into the possibility. It’s great fun, especially if otherwise viewing alone.

And btw, I'm a Colts fan

but also an SB Nation fan glad to see that the Jets finally have an SB nation blog.

just a heads up. I'm from Knoxville, TN (home of the Peyton Manning Volunteers)

I’m not a Colts fan (Jets / Chargers fan) but Peyton is one classy act.

In Knoxville, Peyton didn't win a Nat'l title...

…Yet, they have a street named after him along with the incredible new locker room facility named after him. Tee Martin helped them to win a National Title…nothing named after him.

Absolutely, it makes the game go by much faster as well.

The thing that really got me hooked was the picture application.

ALright, about the pics

Do you have to host them somewhere else, or what? I’d love to add them in. Do I need to use some 3rd party pic hosting site, or what?

directions for posting pics

1. I like to go straight to google images and just type in what I’m looking for.
2. Click on the pick and expand it to it’s full size.
3. Right click and copy the URL.
4. Come back to the blog and click on the little tree icon
5. Paste the URL in the block that opens up for you
6. Click on the word “post” and you’re done.

whoops

Step 2: I should have said: “Click on the pic.”

Ok, that answers my question

So when I have a pic that’s local on my PC, I do need to upload it onto the web somewhere so I can give it a URL to link to.

No, but what I'm saying is, if I have a pic

that’s not on Google images, cuz it’s one I took or made myself, I need to post it online so I can link here.

do you know what I'd like to develop

some kind of software that makes it easier to speak “computer” to people. I am probably the most computer illiterate person around who loves what computers and networking can do, however, i’m just too lazy to really sit down and learn what everything means.

there should be a language or a method out there that makes it easier to give directions or ask questions.

For ex: If you were willing, you would give me permission to access your computer from where I’m at. NOT ACCESS TO YOUR DATA. Just access to the control of your mouse. Then, you could watch me control the mouse as I show you how to perform a function.

" Well, ain't it a small world, spiritually speaking. Pete and Delmar just been baptized and saved. I guess I'm the only one that remains unaffiliated. "

sigh

“you would watch the cursor from the mouse as I would manipulate it” i think you get my meaning.

That's available already

Depending on your software. If you (and your "target") have Microsoft Communicator, you can already do it. I do it to help my mom all the time. We get on the phone, and then I take control of her computer while viewing it remotely on mine, and then I fix her problem-of-the-day while teaching her about it.

i haven't tried using a picture that I have saved on my desk top or in "my pictures"

i’m always using images from google or anything with a URL.

on a mac, when you “right” click on a picture you have saved somewhere else, i believe there is an option that says: “copy from location”. from there you can post that directly into the little tree box and then click “post”. that might work for saved photos. I’m not using my Mac right now…I’m at work.

Shhh.. Don’t tell anyone ;-)

i snapped it from NFL.com

during the gamecast tonight using my magic “printScr” button on the keyboard. Then a little judicious cropping and Presto!

Holy lack of participation Batman!

Man, I didn’t even pay attention to the game thread. I just came directly here to see what Jets fans were saying.

What on earth is going on. I’ve only been blogging on SB Nation since May. I got my fix by blogging on Amazin Avenue and DRays Bay (Tampa Bay Rays – No one blogs like they do…They are f’n addicts!)

Word of mouth man, word of mouth. There is one thing that will drive participation…That’s winning. So, I would expect a few more bloggers during the next game.

Another thing to consider is: A lot of people may have been intently watching the game at home or at a sports bar. But, I know people who blog from their cell phones during the game AT the game.

" Well, ain't it a small world, spiritually speaking. Pete and Delmar just been baptized and saved. I guess I'm the only one that remains unaffiliated. "

I'm a Giants/Mets fan

(you may recognize me from Amazin’ Avenue, I started posting over there right around the end of the season) and I’ve been posting at Big Blue View (the Giants SBN blog) since the beginning of last season. When I started over there, there were only like 10 regular commentators, now there’s probably more than 50, plus the occasional stopper-by. The in-game threads have gone from about 25-30 in-game comments to over 600. I think it just takes time to build up a base readership. Plus, last night was an NFL Network game, so a lot of people might not have been able to watch the game.

Anyway, despite my Giants allegiance, everyone else in my family are Jets fans, so I root for the Jets as well. That was a big win last night. I predicted the Jets would win the AFC East when Brady went down, so I’m glad to see them taking control of the division. Now how long until the NY Media starts the inevitable “Subway Super Bowl” talk?

by cjmulrain on Nov 14, 2008 8:19 AM EST up reply actions

btw

what would they actually call that if it happened, seeing as how a) both teams play in the same stadium, and b) the subway doesn’t go to the Meadowlands? The Jersey Turnpike Super Bowl doesn’t have the same ring…

Game For The Ages!

Everything it was hyped up to be and MORE!

Every time I watch Brett Favre play it feels like a great moment in history.

Thank you Brett for coming back despite the pettiness of the small people who resent you.

About Brett...

I live in the Twin Cities, full of Packer fans who moved here for good jobs, so I’ve followed Brett for years. I am eternally grateful that he found a home in the Jets. He didn’t want to retire and was pushed out by the “new” decision makers in Green Bay.

Since I’m not a packer-backer, it’s easy for me to enjoy his new-found success at the jets, plus it seems like he really has re-energized a fan base that was getting waaaayyy too used to expecting loss. At 38 (or whatever he is), he’s got more youth and energy than the average NFL player.

Long live Mr Favre!

Collinsworth

Was anyone else getting tired of his constant admiration of Jared Mayo? I’m surprised he didn’t leave the booth to go fellate him during the game.

NFL commentary

Mainly a forum for highlighting massive man-crushes on the players. The worst was last year, however, when they were mesmerized by Tom Brady. they were calling the superbowl for the pats from Week 3.
